Fall 2025 - ‘HAZARD IS FAMILY,’ HAZARD COMMUNITY STRONGER THAN FLOOD WATERS
In July of 2022, Eastern Kentucky faced flooding that killed 46 people. In February of 2025, just 3 years later, a flood from the North Fork Kentucky River hit the town of Hazard, Kentucky, destroying buildings and forcing businesses to close, some with the inability to reopen. Through a strong and resilient community, the town and businesses began to come back together and reopen. This story follows that journey and looks at how different people and businesses were impacted by the community of hazard, which to them is family.
