JOU 367 - Final Project

Video can’t be displayed

For my final project, I interviewed Ashleigh Jones, a senior digital media design major at the University of Kentucky. In addition to school, Jones works as the Creative Director for KRNL and the Chief Designer for the Kentucky Kernel. Throughout the interview, Jones discusses how she has learned different skills leading her design team and the different challenges that come with working for a newspaper and a fashion and lifestyle magazine. Jones also discussed her reaction to winning national awards and seeing her teams work receive that high recognition.

Social Media Component

1. Instagram story post: For this social component, I posted an Instagram story highlighting a quote from Jones' interview that highlighted the overall message of the full video. I created this using a photo I took of a KRNL magazine page and used Canva to create the quote graphic, then I uploaded the final photo to my Instagram story.
2. Instagram quote card: For this social component, I used a photo I took of Jones working and combined that with a quote from her interview as a graphic that I created in Canva. I posted this to Instagram as a post on my main feed and added an AP style caption to the post description.
3. Instagram reel: For my final social component, I created an Instagram reel that used soundbites from Jones' initial interview and b-roll of Jones flipping through the most recent KRNL magazine. Reels are a great asset of Instagram as they give a teaser to the full video and make viewers want to watch the full video.
